Neutral ENSO are likely to remain over the next few months with an increasing likelihood of transitioning in to El Nino conditions between August and October.
Sea-levels around Kosrae are likely to remain between 2-4 inches higher than normal over the next few months.
Higher than normal tides are expected on the following dates:
- Wednesday 13 – Sunday 17 June
- Friday 29 – Saturday 30 June
- Thursday 12 – Monday 16 July
- Friday 10 – Tuesday 14 August
During these periods (and possibly the days just before and afterwards) flooding of low lying areas is likely to occur, particularly if larger waves coincide with high tide. Wave overwashing at places such as Paal and Mosral is highly likely.
